Ken Gargett Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 picked up a few single sticks of this from rob about 3 years ago. had them in the bargain box. tried a few then and liked them and found them floating around so grabbed one last night. what a wonderful cigar. elegant yet with underlying intensity of flavour and a lingering finish. there was a light herbal note but worked more to add to the complexity than as anything that would detract from the cigar. spice, cinnamon and a lot more caramel than i remembered. really good construction and a slow even burn. only a couple left but i'd have to think that these are in for the long haul. fabulous smoke, even though a size i normally avoid. 93. my early notes suggested inconsistent results for these. if so, then this was one of the goodies.
pnutbutrsangwich Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Bargain Box?! You crazy or rich?:-P J/k Nice review, makes me wish for one even more.:-|

Ken Gargett Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 » Bargain Box?! You crazy or rich?:-P J/k Nice review, makes me wish for » one even more.:-| i was just trying to help a mate out and take a few apparently unwanted cigars off his hands. i can't help it if he wants to dump the good stuff (i remember the good old days when he had SLR DC's at half price (A$20 a stick) because no one was interested. again, i leapt in to help a mate. and now, does he remember? i have to get in the queue for SLR's at full mark up. the injustice...)
Tampa1257 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 This has got to be one of the absolute finest Marevas that I have ever smoked in my life. It has been a couple of years now since I smoked one and the memory is still fresh in my mind! Great cigar, and I would also give it a high rating, but since I use a different rating scale, I would call it a 6 out of 6 smoke ring cigar as it would be a Classic and a cigar that if ever possible to smoke would be extremely sought after!

Don't get me wrong, they're good cigars but certainly not worth their asking price these days. I only have a few left myself and will wait to see what aditional time will do to them.
univibe88 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I wish I was into cigars when these were available at a reasonable price. I'd love to have some, but I agree that they aren't worth today's asking price.
kluck Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 I bought some of these when they first came out, didn't pay too much for them ~ $280. I've smoked 4 and everyone of them was harsh and not good. The most recent one I smoked was a couple of months ago and it still was not good. I must of got a bad box because most people love these. I have a couple of Cohiba SR boxes from the same vendor one box tastes like crap the other is devine, you never know what you'll get I guess.
