Smoked a few cigars this weekend without even really trying to do so. Started off Friday afternoon with a JL#2 from 2006. Incredible flavor in these things. They have a very sweet and strong aroma. Like honey caramel coating on a freshly baked fruit stew pie. Excellent. 90

Followed by a Boli CG from 2003 at a small house party with a nice keg of beer. Excellent burn and flavor from the get-go. It was like chewing on an old leather boot that just got back from walking through a field of freshly-plowed dirt and replanted with cocoa beans and hot chilis. Extremely spicy finish - my mouth caught fire. 91

After drinking far too much I returned home and retired with a 2006 Monte #2. I remember saying how excellent it was but I was too schnockered for any real tasting notes.

Next day I started off again with a JL#2 - same story These are f'in incredible right now asa freshies. They are like veal chops - and will likely never get any age on them!

Round 2 Saturday brought a Cohiba CE from 2004. This cigar might just be angling for my vote for favorite cigar right now. So complex it would be a shame for me to opine with my limited vocabulary. Gingerbread, molasses, russian black bread, mocha, allspice, and sweet 'n sour sauce all mixed in there for good measure. This cigar burned so perfect I was very impressed. Very spicy finish. Not harsh at all though. 93

Later that night I smoked a 2001 Unico, which, had it not been for the excellent CE previously, was demanding the honor of top cigar smoked in a very long time. Now, this box is almost finished and it has been one hell of a ride. These are like smoking a chocolate bar topped with cool whip and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I'm serious. They are like dessert. Tobacco taste? Not really. It is more like a bouquet of cocoa beans and cookie dough. Very strong finish without a hint of harshness. I had one hell of a buzz by this time. 94

Next day brought some moderation from me with a RyJ coronito cedro something I can't remember what. Gifted to me and it was my first. Friends commented on its unique aroma. Very sweet and fruity - but also sugary. Typical excellent RyJ flavors. 89

Next up to cap off the day? Another 2006 JL#2. I love these muthers! Can anyone deny themselves pure pleasure by ignoring these under-the-radar gems? Not me!

So there it is. A rather mundane weekend - punctuated conspicuously with some excellent reasons to thank your maker for allowing you to participate in the finest life has to offer. To the good life!!!!

Nothing for me until Sunday because the wife was out of town and my friends had me out too damn late. Sunday had a SLR DC. Tasty!
