Cohiba Siglo VI

I really do think that these are one of the best cigars to have emerged from Havana in quite a few years and I suspect that many other members of the forum will rate these highly as well (almost everyone I know personally on the forum certainly does). Can’t help but love that milk chocolate appearance and merest hint of an oily sheen. That oft-used phrase, ‘an iron fist in a velvet glove’ seems perfect for these. They exhibit exemplary balance and despite the obvious power, can seem subtle and even tending towards mild (I think this would be more obvious if they were shorter but at this size, they can’t hide that power forever). For me, they are all coffee and cream, hints of vanilla and with some early complexity. Burn and draw are first class and the aftertaste is clean and long. 95.

Rob: Ken finally has one right :-D. Best current production cigar out of Cuba. 95

Ok people I confess that I am a Sig6 *****. I could have one every day. There is always talk about aged cigars with some needing up to five years. These are all young and yet better than most of my "mature" stock. Wappers are near flawless and constuction is of the highest order.

#1 cigar in the world. The only way for me to think otherwise is to founder on them. I'm trying.

I saw the score of 95 and only want to know what gets 96+. If you got a better smoke send me one.

Great smoke,

Very smooth considering the strength & even though I'm still a relative newbie to cigars this was an absolute pleasure. Brought 10 back from Havana in December & look forward to seeing how they fare after some rest time in the humi (if they last that long)

Totally agree with your review.

I picked up a copy of some cigar magazine that stated these cigars were average. The person writing that review would then state my old 1983 Buick Regal [Hey-I am not cutting down my old car-it has been most faithful to me] is

the same quality as my new sports car. -sorry buick my old friend

I was blown away with the Cohiba Siglo VI. The complexity simply spun my senses until I was smiling from ear to ear. Does life get any better than this???

My first one was with a glass of '63 port and stilton.

And yep-have a box sitting in my humidor for the next three years. Currently I only have four full boxes of cigars just for aging-this is one of them.

Hey Dave glad to meet another slave to the mighty SIG VI. I had a box of April 04 and they are gone. These poor sticks were never in the aging bin as they we ear marked for the flame thrower. No regrets dude loved em all.

I do have a few 03 year that are just barely avoiding the same fate.

Pulled out one that I brought back from the Feb trip - in a tube so not a box number. Agree that these rank right up there with the best of the Cohiba LE’s. Have some of these in deep storage but hard to keep hands off something this good now. Spice, milk chocolate, early signs of building the complexity that hopefully those I can avoid will pick up in time. Lovely slow, consistent burn, spice, earth, cream, richness, chocolate and for the first time, just a tiny hint of a character that I could only describe as a bit like human sweat but certainly not a detracting factor, no matter how horrible it sounds. Also a slight cedary and leather note. Lovely cool draw. It got a tiny bit ragged at the finish, but I did take it as far as I could. Pushed an hour and half and a joy for the entire time. Love them. Didn't have a 63 crofts but made do with some excellent rum. 93.

I smoked a few of these around the holidays and while the burn, construction and overall performance was the best I've ever seen, I didn't pick up any of the power that was mentioned above. I have some of the tubos and the regular presentation. I've been resting these with plans to revisit this summer. Now I'll have to dig one out and see if I smoked them too quickly off the truck. I gave away most of a 15 pack of the tubos (3*5) to clients over the holidays which was a waste because the people I gave them to are just used to smoking fakes they mule back from their vacations in Mexico.

I agree with your review,Ken. It's nice to see so much appreciation here for one of my favorite cigars. These days when I want something really good, I reach for one of these.have plenty in reserve right now,but I'm sure that won't last much longer!

Disappointed.

I've tried a couple of these now from an EMS box.

Don't do it for me at all so far.

In fact, with all the hype they strike me like the "Kings new clothes" story.

All show & no go.

Certainly not worth the premium price charged.

Gimme a PS2 any day, or a Boli Gigantes.

I'll persevere but I'm not hopeful.

.have plenty in reserve right now,

Hey Skindiver, How many of these does it take to fit the desription above?

PLENTY must mean boxes and boxes stacked on boxes.

Actually, they stack pretty well, but only 4 1/2 boxes qualifies as plenty for me right now.

Sept 05. Last night of the trip back in Lisbon. Local telly had promised a replay of the Redskins thrashing the Cowboys but it never eventuated so forced to make do with Cary Grant, Kath Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart et al. Guess that the programmers were Cowboys fans. This was a cracker with which to finish - though it did manage to set off the hotel alarms (I was in a smoking room so I take no blame). Has that lovely milk chocolate appearance. Lit well and construction as good as it appeared. Opened with heavenly creme caramel notes with spice, some herbal touches, dark coffee beans and a good mix of flavours showing early complexity. I am certain that as these settle down, we’ll see more and more improvement. From a box LLN Feb 04 so still quite youthful. First two-thirds showed a terrific cone. Draw was quite tight, tighter than most but not excessive. Rich and full-flavoured with power, yet all kept in balance throughout. Never became overwhelming. Really impressive. Quite creamy. Balance is key. Hint of a slight cedary note. These have to be one of the best releases from Havana in the last few years. An easy 93. Took the better part of two hours. Great way to finish the trip.
