Pedigree and Predictability of Recent PSD4?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody been very impressed with recent productions of the SD#4's? I bought a couple of boxes of them a few years ago (2004 Box Code) and they were terribly flat. I mean, like smoking pure air. Draw was a bit loose too. So I laid them down for a year and tried one and it was actually very good. Much better flavors. But, I felt they still needed more time. I have not tried one recently because last night I looked into both boxes and realized only half of each box was left. This led me to believe that I need to stock back up on these. How have the recent productions been going? Typical muted sick period? Good potential as usual? Worth the investment in time? I think when I try another of these 04's that I will be glad I decided to park them in the back of the lot.

IMO Yes to all of your questions. I just got a box from NOV 05 and they are a little sick. While my palette and experience is a bit young with aged cigars, I can tell they will be a favorite with 2+ years of rest. TD

My experience exactly - for that matter, all Partagas I've tried to date. I just

finished a PSP2 with the same result. I still have hope......

Not at all impressed with PSD4s for a couple years. The P2 is another story. Raw & harsh when fresh, mine are now over a year old & tasting very good. Another worthy Partagas is the SduC#1.

And if you're specifically looking for a powerful robusto, the VR Famoso is a fiine choice.

I got a box of PSD4 late last year, I believe they were SEP05. They were OK ROTT, but I put 'em away. I've had a couple since then, and although they weren't "sick", they weren't great either. Into the catacombs with 'em!

Bassman is right about the P2. It's become one of my favorite Party animals.

I have a box from '04. The first 5 or so were damn good. After a few months they were flat as hell. No real flavor etc. I just revisited this box and dammit if they arent one of the best smokes Ive had in recent memory. Too bad they are almost gone. My advice is to restock with 2 boxes....and send me one.:-D
