Oh yes, been ordering some select chateaux, 6 bottles each. Unfortunately, most of my old favorites have really increased in price due to their popularity & the decline in the US$. Ken Gargett
» Never heard of it Ken what's it all about ?...................... basically the producers in bordeaux sell their wine long before it is finished. you pay a chuck now and the rest when it is released (there are still 03's filtering through so it takes a while). advantage to them is that they get money several years before they might otherwise. advantage to you is that you secure the wines you want at cheaper prices. dangers is if they stuff up the wine or the market turns, as it did with the 97's, and you find you have overpaid. works in years of top quality and high demand like 1982, 1990, 2000, 2003 and it seems that this might just be the daddy of them all. anyone interested should check the best local retailers or the wine mags/columns etc.

Freefallguy
Ken, you're asking this of a nation (US) that has Costco as its major wine retailer? (As cited in the Wall Street Journal, June 2, ’06) There was also what I thought a great quote in the article from a boutique retailer in NYC… “My frustration as a consumer was that retailers seemed to make wine mysterious. It shouldn’t be any more difficult than buying broccoli.” Nancy Maniscalco
Colt45
One aspect I dislike about futures is that there's no guarantee that, in the end, you'll actually get the wine. While it's not always the case, it does happen.

jqmunro
i ordered some of the following for 2005 3xpape clement, 3xducru beaucaillou, 4xlynch bages, 12xmonbousquet I think all of them are at a reasonable price point except for the lynch bages... probably more of the name in the price than the quality of the 2005, but only time will tell... winelover
in australia, there is huge interest. assume the same in uk and » usa? There's big interest here in the UK too. You need serious money to buy from the most famous houses, on bbr.com , chateaux margaux and chataux la tour are £600 and £650 PER BOTTLE respectively, and you have to buy by the case! Think there are plenty of less well known gems to be found at far better prices, should you have the cash and of course the storage facility. winelover
Hang on, I've just seen the most expensive ever, Chtx Ausone at a staggering £1375.00 per 75cl bottle and only available in cases of 12! http://www.bbr.com/GB/db/product/62127B/Ch...FZRTBX3867W001D Actually the Petrus is more, just seen at £2175 per bottle so case of twelve comes in at a mere £26100 Crazy money
