anacostiakat Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 As is my want, I stopped by my beverage store this Saturday morning. As I was putting my order together one of the managers recommended a new bourbon they started carrying. Always up to try something new I grabbed a bottle of Wathens 8 year Kentucky Bourbon. So I am sitting here nipping on my second glass. Getting vanilla and nutmeg from this one. Very smooth with not much burn. Very nice "lighter" drink and going well with an Opusx DC.
El Presidente Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 The only bourbon I have is Woodfords reserve of which a few bottles were gifted to me when it was released in Australia. I have struggled with straight bourbon in the past but I will enjoy a glass with a Cohiba Robusto this afternoon ;-)
Ken Gargett Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 have gone through a few of the woodford which i very much enjoy. current bottle almost finished - it is from batch 3. i did get one from batch 1 and it was noticably superior to all others, at least to this non-bourbon calibrated palate.
cigarnv Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 kat.... I find the Wathens, as you did, a bit to the light side. I also find it does not provide great price performance given other better (to my palate that is) bourbons on the market for less cost.

For a couple of coins more I can get a jug I like better.
