Guest cohiba Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I am curious to hear evryones opinion of this cigar. How are they smoking? Would you view it as a light, Med, Full ? Would compare to?
Jimmy2 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Med bolded but with very rich flavor no other Cuban come's close to the Robusto Extra. I think Robusto Extra it one of the cigar's that you can say it's in a class of it's own..
El Presidente Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I had two last week and both dissapointed me. Both were young but tasted bloody green. Mindyou I have had some excellent examples. Will try again this week.
habanohal Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 How do they compare to the very tangy and flavorful Reyes or Colonials?
Jimmy2 Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Robusto Extra to me taste's like rich chocolate's or sweets when on.
El Presidente Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 » Robusto Extra to me taste's like rich chocolate's or sweets when on. Damn Jimmy...I know how much you like your sweets
anacostiakat Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 » LOL it tasted like a Cannoli.. Leave the gun, take the cannoli, Jimmy! LOL To me the Robusto Extra tastes very different than the Reyes. I have not had any Coloniales (Need to remedy that).
Elric Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I've been underwhelmed with the RE, I love both the reyes and the coloniales. Mine were like El Prez's very green.
harwellplant Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 the robusto extra is, by far, my least favorite of the trinidad marque. i have never had one that was comparatively as consistently nice as your average reyes or fundadore.
strayvector Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 All the ones I've smoke have had top notch construction. Probably the best constructed Cubans that I've experienced. On the taste part, I'm of two minds. I've had some that were just absolutely wonderful and some that were simply boring. The samples that were great keeps me coming back to them, unfortunately, I get a few here and there that are boring and one dimensional. I find them to be medium strength cigars with light to medium body and all have produced an incredible amount of smoke and an excellent firm draw.
Taino Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 To expensive for what they have to offer, maybe in a few years I change my mind when they get older...
choix supreme Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 » To expensive for what they have to offer, maybe in a few years I change my » mind when they get older... A great cigar that just gets better with age. I have a box and every once and a great while I'll have one and I'm never disappointed. It's got it's own flavor, you can't confuse it with any other marque.
connoiseur29 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 It's a middle of the road cigar. When I have had it though, aged appropriately, it is a really comfortable, smooth smoke. At that price point though, you have to really trust your tobacconist and hope that he has isolated a number of excellent cabinets. But even the most experienced tobacconists I suspect have found green cigars in batches of purportedly wonderful smokes. It's the nature of the beast.
