Wiggles 2. Steve Irwin aka Crocodile Hunter 3. Rupert Murdoch (does he own the US yet? ) 4. Russel Crowe (you have to love an Aussie who knows how to behave like a movie star should) 5. Nicole Kidman (who could ever forget her role as a Neurologist in that classic movie..."Day's of Thunder" )
JMH Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 They used to be a little known rock band called the cockroaches or something, then they turned to kids music and *bam* millionaires MANY times over.
Elric Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 What about that gap-toothed Aussie football player who shilled energizer batteries in the US a few years back. What was his name?

swl Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Isn't Olivia Newton John from Australia? Ooops, she actually moved there when she was 5 from the UK. Okay, how about Helen Reddy? Now, I'm really dating my age! :-D
Colt45 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I always liked Skippy the bush kangaroo. And who can forget Yahoo Serious.
El Presidente Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 It's all coming back now. How could I have forgotten Paul Hogan and Olivia Newton John? What about Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban and ACDC? The Battery man commercial was Mark Jackson (true lunatic). And what about Aussie cricketer David Boon who holds the world record of beers consumed in flight from Sydney to London? We are Culture with a capital K
Ken Gargett Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 what about mel gibson? murdoch? wolfenson? felix the cat? bruce springsteen? okay, i made that one up but when i did live in the states, had a mate convinced he was born here and moved to nj when very yuoung.
Ken Gargett Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 under no circumstances do we ever ever claim russell crowe. he is a kiwi and NOT an aussie. latest russ story which will mean more to locals - with the takeover of souths, russ (this is apparently absolutely true) asks peter holmes-a-court if his mother janet is aware that they are mates. 'yes, russ, she is' replies pete. 'but hasn't she ever asked to meet me' asks a bewildered russ. nice to have an ego.
Colt45 Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 » what about mel gibson? Wasn't Gibson born in the U.S, and moved to Australia as a young boy?
Jimmy2 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Mel Gibson is from the BIG APPLE.... I hung out with AC/DC for about an hour when i was in Private Parts the movie great guy's..
mgillett Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 » What about that gap-toothed Aussie football player who shilled energizer » batteries in the US a few years back. What was his name? The idiot you refer to is Mark "Jacko" Jackson.
JMH Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 On no account should anyone try to claim russ and mel are from oz. Boonie is a national hero though ;-)
