Partagas Petite Corona (NISU TTH03)

Recommended Posts

Had some time at lunch, so took a Partagas PC with me. These are my favorite PCs, so I thought it was time to do a review on one. Here are my thoughts:

Partagas Petite Corona (NISU TTH03)

Can't really call this cigar attractive. It did have a very nice medium-brown wrapper...with a couple of veins that looked like scars on Frankenstein. The seams were sloppy and the triple-flagged cap rather wonky. The cigar had a slight box press to it. The nose was of earth and leather. I clipped it and tested the draw...just right.

Despite its looks, I can't say a single bad thing about the construction. The draw stayed just perfect upon lighting and the smoke production was huge. Billowing mouthfuls were coaxed out of the cigar with each easy puff. The cigar burned dead even all the way, despite the fact that I was smoking outside. The ash was medium to dark gray and semi-firm. The smoke was cool all the way down to the nub. Excellent construction.

This little mareva started off with a rich leathery flavor that just filled the mouth. The tastes were big and full. There was a hint of wood upon lighting, but his was overshadowed. On the finish, there was a clean citrus note. As the cigar developed, it exhibited some great cooking spice...best way to describe it is "smoky cocoa." Fantastic. As I neared the end of the smoke, there was this surprising burst of cedar flavor that just complimented everything else.

I love this cigar. At least I love the ones from '98 as that is all I have smoked. I find them to be the perfect petite corona for my palate. The only thing was that this cigar might have been too rich for an early afternoon smoke. It was something. I rate this cigar an A+ (95+).

Through the generosity of CigarDawg, I was able to enjoy one of these delicious PC's. His review is dead-on, including the unexpected and delightful twang. At eight years old, this cigar has fully matured, and integrates the classic Partagas profile of leather, wood and spice in a rich, smooth package with a lightly honeyed citrus finish. Just a hint of pepper on the tongue. The definition of sophistication in a smaller Partagas, approaching the Serie du Connaisseur in depth of flavor and complexity. Thanks for the great review and the even better smoke!

Sometimes the uggliest sticks deliver the most heavenly flavour. ;-)
