Monte 5 Nov 04

Recommended Posts

I would be remiss without making sure there is a review for my "go to" cigar.

The Nov 04 is the latest box I have and just finished the last cigar from it.

Seems their is a bit of difference between the 03's.

This box has been a little less refined with more intense flavors. Just a bit of edge covering up the sweet creamy flavor that drives the whole way through. with that edge came a carmel flavor of sorts, kind of hard to explain but the heavy flavor still alowed the core flavor to shine through. The burn was impeccable and the ash held very well having to be tapped free when it was an inch long. Like so many before the fingers were getting pretty warm when I had to lay it down.

Overall I like these better then any other Monte. While I have had my share of others in this line that were good, the #5 has never dissapointed me in the slightest. A very consistant cigar that packs some nice flavors.

I'm guessing you are the same Sparky that sometimes goes by Sparky5e??? If not, strange coincidence that you both love the MC#5.

If it's you, I actually smoked my first due to you some time ago (almost two years ago) and I can't believe I haven't added a box since then. Creamy, smooth, leather, cocoa. They smoke a LOT bigger than they are. Something that small SHOULD burn hot, but it doesn't. 30 minutes of bliss. . .

This was the first Cuban cigar I tried. "Sweet creamy flavor" is exactly how I

remeber it. One thing that really struck me, was how such a small cigar, with

a tightish draw, could produce so much smoke.

I don't know why I haven't acquired more....

Yes I am He so there is no strange coincidence LOL (messed up when I signed up)

I really do love this little cigar and it never amazes me how much is packed in the small package. I wouldn't say this is the best cigar I ever had, like my fist Lusi or a very well aged BBF. But when I am in doubt or need a cigar to fit a short time frame this is the one. I am never dissapointed although every once in awhile I get some that are a bit different.

Last week I pulled one out in of the box flying out the door. I clipped it and lit it on the road. I knew right away something was wrong because the flavors were balanced more then they should be and had a taste of transformation that was unmistakable. I looked a little closer and laughed at the paler dull label and realized it was from the 97 not the 04 box. While a bit upset for grabbing it for a drive, I sure did savor every puff and the traffic didn't bother me as much for some reason LOL. It got moved away from the other box when I got home so it doesn't happen again.

Definately in my top 10 list and I only first smoked one last year. Truly under the radar.» Good review. I am going to have the pleasure of trying these shortly.
