This is just a trip down memory lane for most,

But where were you and what was happening around you when you had your most memorable smoke?

Mine was a starlit summer night with a gentle breeze, my head clear, and the realization that I was going to take my life in an entirely different direction, with friends at a waterfront cafe in August about 3 years ago.

Hard to pick just one, but the most memorable places are:

My back porch with my dad and brother. It's a regular event now, and the conversation, the scotch and the cigars make for a very special occassion every time. Wish I had started this tradition earlier.

On the fantail of my last ship (USN) at sunset. I sometimes went out and smoked alone to enjoy a rare moment of solitude. It was a great time to reflect on the day and life in general, think about my family at home, ot just stare at the stars, contemplating the enormity of the universe. Other times it was with a group, enjoying the comeraderie and just plain talkin smack.

These may not seem very special, the cigars themselves were nothing out of the ordinary, but they are the most memorable occassions because the cigar was like a key that opened a door to a special place. Indeed, sometimes a cigar is much more than just a cigar.

Figured I would post, since one came to mind when I read the thread title...

Sedona, AZ last May celebrating my wedding anny with some good friends. Sitting on the deck overlooking Oak Creek, beautiful, cool sunny afternoon with some good people, good booze, and good smokes, surrounded by views of the red rock mountains, and shaded by the trees, listening to the creek run below us. Just one of the more relaxing and enjoyable weekends Ive had lately. Looking forward to going back for even longer this coming may.

After a day hunting Boar and late afternoon fishing for Barramundi surrounded by salt water crocs, 5 of us jumped on the ATV's and headed back to camp. Right on dusk we stopped in the middle of Arnhemland (300 km from nearest town) cracked open a cold beer and fired up a Cohiba Robusto. Nothing in the world like staring at an Arnhemland sky as the stars start to come out. By the time we were finishing the Robusto's, there seemed like millions of stars around us, so close that you believed you could reach out and touch one.

My wife and I were having a few early morning pints in a small courtyard cafe in Ottowa as we were not very hungry. The date was Wednesday September 12th 2001. We had just payed a visit to the American embassy to place some flowers in memory of those who had perished the day before. As I write this the emotions of those days flood over me once again. We sat somberly contemplating the

loss of life and the reasons behind such a heinous act. We sat there crying finding comfort in each other and a Bolivar Royal Corona that we were sharing.

I have several that come to mind....

Tops would be aboard the mighty warship the USS Abraham Lincoln.

I was fortunate to be a guest of the Navy's distinguished visitors program in January. They flew me out of San Diego to land aboard while the ship was on manuevers. We were out at sea doing flight ops, and the "smoking lounge" is a large open area on the side of the ship with an unobstucted view of the open ocean. I shared cigars with the XO and other guests, one of which was the the COO of Rolls Royce, power plant division, which makes a number of the jet engines the Navy currently uses. The comraderie that was shared anmongst the cigar loving officers was really cool. I probably spent half my time aboard the ship in "the lounge". :-D

Also very many come to mind and most of them fishing with friends.

-A custom rolled inside a thermal bath in the Chilean fiords after a fishing day

-CoRo in Venezuela watching my friends catch a few bones

-JL N°2 in a boat coming back from fishing for peacock bass.

sitting in the backyard with my wife the day after my father-in-law passed away from a long illness, I was smoking a Part Lusi, as we watched the most beautiful sunset and talked about his life and what he meant to us

Well, I guess I can post this........... In the Dominican Republic. A Party Pyramid EL. Can still remember the flavors. Also the 1st time I ever smoked a cigar on the balcony why..........well , just say that the wife had scrapes on her knees. :-D

So I guess it is hard to forget. It was the best EL I have had yet. Just sucks that they are gone , and if you can find them, you half to take a chance at them being legit.

Now these are some that Habanos should rerelease.
