Always heard good things about these, but stayed away because everyone said they were very mild, I was gifted one by a friend and was quite surprised by the flavor. This is a very well constructed robusto, nice dark oily wrapper, very solid

once cut found draw very good, once lit draw was very good alot of smoke which started out very woody and medium bodied with a lite cinnamon spice under the wood, which grew at half-way point and became milder but great spice flavor why every draw, ash was only problem it was very flakey but other than that it burned straight and never had to be corrected.

This was not the strongest robusto out there but it was a very good one, the flavor is great, I quickly purchased a couple more from Lisa I dont know the code on them but tasted just like first one I had.

overall I would give it an A for the flavor

Thanks for the review!

I have smoked only one - it did not really do anything for me but smoked fine. Might need to revisit them sometime.

I have smoked a couple from 04 and a couple from 98. The 04s were OK, but a bit flat. The 98s...bloody fantastic. The actually picked up some body and the flavor definitely improved. If you have the patience...age them.

I luv 'em. Got a box of March 04's from the Czar and while they won't knock you flat, they do provide me with 45 min- 1hr of smoking pleasure. Reckon some age would certainly help. :-P

I thought I had already replied to this thread, but apparently my reply was to a different thread on the same cigar.

You people have it all wrong.

These cigars are definitely not good, which is why so few people talk about them. I have smoked dozens of them and rate them "completely yukky". Please don't buy them. ;-)

Very nice review! I find the Conny #1 a decent cigar. They have been referred to as the "table wine" of Havana cigars, a comment which fits the bill IMO...

This is a smoke I've actually been interested in trying. I've heard a range of comments from them being nothing special to being a great under the radar smoke. Guess I'll just have to find out!

OK, Dawg. You persuasive bastard. I ordered some '98's and we'll see... we'll see...

Edit: Dawg, you were right. Just broke open the '98 box after a only a week in the humidor. Age has actually given the cigar more body and deeper flavors, with a welcome "bite" on the exhale. One of the best Upmann's I have ever had. A classic.

I tried one Saturday while listening to the football, drinking a bottle of Penfolds Bin 128 and cooking the BBQ (My family wonder why it takes me a solid hour to cook 5 steaks and 8 sausages :-D )

Your review nailed the connie 1 :ok:

I'm lucky enough to be able to agree on those 98's! Flavor full, and complex- I'm thinking these will be FF in five more years!

I've got some 99's that are outstanding. Not sure why this is an overlooked smoke.
