05 Montecristo Tubos

I know they are still young ns' But I have smoked alot of fresh Montes, and all have been very flavorful and to my likeing. Except this 1. I had my 4th one today.Very bland , muted flavor. I can tell it has the Monte flavor, but very dull.

Now I believe this is the same thing as the Monte #1 which is a lonsdale. My 05 box of the #1 are smokeing phenominal right now and are 10 times better than the tubes.

I am hopeing they come around , for I took them out of the tubes and gave them their own cedar drawer in my cabinet.

I recently had fresh Monte Tubos and Petit Tubos which were quite underwhelming. Just like you said. No pop, bland, muted. I'm not sure what to attribute it to, but they were far from impressive with none of the tang or expected flavor.

Could they be in a "sick period"? I have not had the experience of smoking a monty that was sick like a psd4.

I have some from '00 that are very nice right now. This is my first box and I bought it a couple of months ago, so I can't really say how a younger vintage would be.

Complete hit and miss.

Bolivar has the best Tubos while Montecristo the worst.

It is a crapshoot. You need to check or have someone chaeck all tubes before you pay your hard earned.

Gotcha!

MAybe in a year or so they will be better. That is 1 of the reasons I have so many cigars. If a box needs to be left alone, I always have others to smoke.
