dysfunctional Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Can I et some feedback on the SLR Double Corona's ?? Thought they are discontinued...... Heard that they are hard to come by also.... What are the flavours ? How they smoke young and when aged. Appreciate the feedback.
guilow Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 » Heard that they are hard to come by also.... They are easy to come by. Just order two boxes from the Prez this month? I'm looking forward to trying my first.
Ken Gargett Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 absolutely sensational cigar. worth getting a copy of MRN just to read about the story behind these. they have only been around a short while (i remember when rob had to discount them by 50% because he couldn´t sell them - and do you think that there has ever been thanks for the poor soul who helped keep his business afloat by buying all he could). as only around a short while, guess that we´ll have to wait and see ageing potential but i would have thought it immense. there are several other posts on the forum on these.
Ken Gargett Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 also worth noting that you never see them in cuba. i don´t think i know anyone there who has smoked one, let alone seen one. seem to come out only once or twice a year in small quantities. get in line.

Managed to get my hands on a cab of 50.....will lock them away for at least 5 years before smoking them... trying to see if I can get one more to smoke at intervals to see how they age and progress.
Mel Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I got a cab and I'm smoking mine. I hate to wait the five years that some recomend and probably with good reason. If you like the DC format you have to have the SLRDC, RAG and P Lusi. These are the top of the line big cigars for me.
Roy R. Frush Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Guilow was referring to the special El Prez is offering. If you purchase two boxes this month, you will receive one SLR DC as a bonus.
The Privateer Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Dude take it from me, the SLR DC is fantastic. You have to catch it at the right time though....a year can make all the difference in the world as I found out the hard way ;-)
manny816 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I have had the pleasure of smoking a few. They were all fantastic.

shrink Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 The '01's I have smoked are perhaps the finest DC's I have ever had. Very rich, subtle, and sophhisticated.
kab55 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Never been much of a fan of the SLR's, tend to shy away from this brand.
ironman Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Great cigar, you just need to have a few hours to smoke it;-)
El Presidente Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Drop Lisa or I a line. If we put the SLR DC online we would move 40 cabs in an hour. We never receive 40 cabs :-( We rather give them to those who love them or want to try them as opposed to those who want to collect them and have room on their Credit Card ;-)

NJLimoDriver Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 That is a great approach Rob - way to spread the wealth - cheers Mike
caudio51 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I had one over the weekend. Fantastic cigar. Had that firm cuban draw, earthy flavors. Very enjoyable.
Well Armed Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 When did these start to show themselves on the market again? Early 2004?

Van55 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I split a cab of the 00 (?) release with a friend. My half was plagued with plugged cigars. Very disappointing for such a big cigar to be unsmokable.

Colt45 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 » » My half was plagued with plugged cigars. » and I have never heard of anybody having plugged SLR DCs. My first try of this cigar, recently, had a very tight draw.
El Presidente Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Jun 04/Nov 04/May 05/ OCT 05 The above are not exclusive. Generally two production runs per year.

Actually it was 10/01, they and the 11/01 are off the hook!
