El Presidente Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 RTDA is at the Sands Expo Centre. Are there any great 3 bd apartments close by? Since Lisa is coming, I will be on my best behaviour. It might be more comfortable to share a large apartment as we have one other guest coming from OZ (No not Ken....thank God) ;-) Alternatively, best overall hotel close by taking into account value, proximity and comfort.
El Presidente Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 » What are the exact dates of the RTDA? 17th to the 19th of July ;-)
jjwright Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Go with Ceasar's. Less than a half mile to the expo center and they have the greatest cigar shop in all of Vegas, Casa Fuente. Price is middle of the road.

Harrah's (as stated in the link) as $45 a night and is half a mile from the expo center.
BL68MUSTANG Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 El: I would agree that Ceasers Palace is a good choice and have stayed there. My understanding is the Venetian is top of the list for price and service. I have been invited to attend the RTDA and will ask further information regarding the best place to stay rather than CircusCircus. I have never attended and am looking forward especially since hanging out with several cigar store buyers.:-P
Cohiba007 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 » » What are the exact dates of the RTDA? » » 17th to the 19th of July ;-) DAMN-I don't arrive there until the 20th for a work function.
n2advnture Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 A bunch of VCC members (myself included) are going to be in Vegas the weekend before the RTDA (Fri-Sun). ;-) ~M

I stayed at Harrah's for the last RTDA in Vegas (2004). It is about a 15 minute walk to the Sands. If you can navigate through the Venitian, then it is only 10 minutes (I kept getting lost). The Sands is actually connected to the Venetian. Off all of the hotels that I saw in Vegas, it was my favorite. Fairly pricey, but absolutely beautiful. Myself, I'll probably stay at Harrah's again.

We should definitely try to get together for a drink and cigar over the weekend.
Wiley Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 My wife and I go to Vegas a lot. Last time, which was last year, we stayed at the Venetian. The Venetian's rooms are large, and reasonably nice. One great thing about the Venetian is how many pretty great restaurants it has. And a decent pool area. Sometime this year we're probably going to Vegas again, and we're going to stay at the new Wynn Las Vegas. It's a step up from the Venetian. More in line with the Bellagio. (Which is also a very nice place to stay.) The Mandalay Bay complex is awesome, but at the other end of the strip. The rooms and pools are amazing. If you don't care about the pool, the Paris is pretty nice. Make time to take in some shows. And I mean the Broadway-type shows or one of the Cirque shows.
jgros001 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Not sure of the proximity to the Sands but I like the Bellagio the best of all the hotels. In my opinion, cleaner and nicer than the Venetian.

cf2112 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Been to Vegas a few times and Treasure Island has some nice rooms at a good price. It's within walking distance, also Mirage, Belligo or anything mid strip. If go to TI check out the new pirate ship I bought them on my last visit:-D
korryp Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 My vote is for the Mirage. Great service and reasonable room rates.
Spud2 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I'm working out the details to go to RTDA also, thanks for the info. Hope to see Rob or Lisa along the way.
badhangover Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 » » What are the exact dates of the RTDA? » » 17th to the 19th of July ;-) El Prez, Just FYI, these dates are within the time period of the World Series of Poker. Las Vegas is seemingly never without a convention(s) of some type, and I know you need to attend anyways, but just so you know, in case you encounter reservation difficulties. There are a number of timeshare type rentals within a couple of blocks east and west of the strip. They are condominium type arrangements, and are major hotel chain branded (e.g. Marriott). I've not been to Las Vegas in about 4 years or so, but I'm only 220 miles away from there, and have been there many times. I can look into this type of place for you, which may be more comfortable for you than the strip, if you'd like. They're more home-style accomidations. Either way, have fun. I'm jealous. I bet the RTDA is a great time. I'm trying my best to satellite a seat into the WSOP. I've come close the past couple of years. Furiously trying to build up my tournament credits on a poker site.
El Presidente Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 Thanks guys. My beautiful and intelligent wife has ruled out any chance of me sharing accomodation with Lisa I think we need to organise a serious "play" either Sunday or Monday night. I will arrange travel arrangements later this week and will post our itinerary.

tandblov Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Go for the Bellagio... You won't regret it one bit... There is also a great cigar lounge at Paris... But hey, pretty much the whole city is a cigar lounge.
Van55 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 » Imperial Palace! Imperial Palace is inexpensive, but pretty much a dump.
