i would think it would be montecristo by so far. as for specifics, think possibly 4 then 2. then romeo and juliet. don´t think cohiba would come within cooee!

The Montecristo may be a bigger seller but I think Cohiba has more name recognition.

The premise of the question is, what cigar is most widely known in the world? I take that to be most recognizable by the nonsmokers as well as the smokers.

Cohiba, not necessary the esplendido, although they seem to be the most counterfeited ones I ever hear of.

The monte 2 has gotta be right up there also.

i would think that monte´s far outsell cohiba but i would be amazed if cohiba had more brand recognition. it may well be very different in the states but the number of people i talk to that know of monte´s but have never heard of most others including cohiba would be ten to one.

Ken that's interesting. I would have thought that as far as name recognition, among the general public, non-smokers and lovers of the leaf alike, that Cohiba would be king. My observation is clearly based on my locale. I would think though, among lovers of the leaf, Monte has it. It has sold so well for so long.

I wonder if the US bias to Cohiba is based on Hollywood. It seems that when ever the movies want to display a cuban cigar, Cohiba gets the role.

I would have to agree. Only fakes I've seen somebody smoke were some sort of cohiba. Seems everybody has heard of cohiba, even people that you would assume had no idea what hand made habanos are.
