Knoxville, Tennessee Plans to Ban Smoking Inside Bars

On Tuesday, May 12, the Knoxville City Council voted 7-2 in favor of a new ordinance that would ban smoking inside bars and music venues.

This was the first vote; a second vote will take place on Tuesday, May 26.

If approved, the law would outlaw indoor smoking at those venues effective Jan. 1, 2027. The ordinance would not restrict smoking inside of cigar stores, vape shops and other retail tobacco stores.

Halfwheel reports today that the second vote passed 6-3 to enact the new law.
