El Presidente Posted March 25 Posted March 25 This is a new series where we take a cigar that may have had somewhat mixed reviews upon release and see where they are now with a little water under the bridge. Setting the discussion: How have the Edicion Limitada Class of 2016 fared? This is little like reviewing the draft picks 10 years ago The 2016 Edicion Limitada Class was a strong one. Montecristo Dantés Edición Limitada 2016 167 mm × 48 RG (6 5/8" × 48) – Hermosos No.1 Romeo y Julieta Capuletos Edición Limitada 2016 153 mm × 53 RG (6" × 53) – Sobresalientes Trinidad Topes Edición Limitada 2016 125 mm × 56 RG (4 7/8" × 56) – Topes Now the Trinidad Topes went on to get its own regular production line in 2019. That is a fair pointer that it may have been the most successful of the three albeit the Montecristo Dantes was a great seller. The Romeo y Julieta Capuleto was the slower of the sellers but I believe it was the sleeper of the three and has turned out to be the better cigar. Your thoughts on the "class of 2016? How has 10 years treated them
JohnS Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I bought a box of the Trinidad Topes and Montecristo Dantes Limited Editions. I acquired a quarter box of the Romeo y Julieta Capuletos. The Trinidad Topes was outstanding from the time of its release. It only got better as time passed. I have two sticks left and I wish I had more. The Romeo y Julieta Capuletos was okay for me. They were also improving as time passed, but as I had so few of them, I smoked my last one five or six years ago. I could never connect with the Montecristo Dantes when I had a few singles, as I found them unbalanced and 'fulsome'. They weren't very 'Montecristo' at all! I ended up relinquishing the box to someone who would admire or appreciate them more. 2
tbelle7 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Agree with JohnS - the Topes EL are fantastic. I've never had the others. 2
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted March 26 Popular Post Posted March 26 I have quite a few boxes of Dantes. I should light one up tomorrow and see how they're faring. 5
SUP8333 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Topes are the best of the bunch, I did not enjoy the Dantes and Capuletos over the last 2 years so I guess they need to sit longer. 2
El Presidente Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Interesting to see the pricing for these at the time Montecristo Dantés Edición Limitada 2016 $27 USD at La Casa del Habano level Romeo y Julieta Capuletos Edición Limitada 2016 $21–22 USD retail Trinidad Topes Edición Limitada 2016 $23–24 USD retail 1 2
