So do you think that the kind of cap on the tube could make a difference on how long the cigar could survive out of external humidification?

It seems like Dunhill thought so from what they put on their tubes.

"This Cigar was packed in perfect condition for immediate smoking, and will remain so until the tube is opened."

They were using a push on type cap that was then sealed with tape.

It has been over 10 years since I smoke this cigar, but I still remember the very unique flavors that came for the  cigar. This cigar and its unique flavors will be burned into my memory for ever!

Very interesting. Never seen that before. I prefer the newer slide lid over the old style screw top but I doubt it makes much difference as far as retaining RH. To smoke a Dunhill Tubos must have been a dream!

Been toying with the idea of using plumbing tape on a screw top tubos as travel cigars.
