Cigar journal report festival 26 indefinitely postponed

Still no official announcement though

 

Habanos SA will announce imminently that the 26th Habanos Festival is postponed indefinitely. Officially, it is not a cancellation, but there is no date set for its celebration either. This decision began to be considered quite some longer time ago, but was finalized more than a month ago, so the reason is not the recent news about the lack of fuel for airplanes. That is a fact that undoubtedly aggravates the situation, but one that could be overcome.

Today within the same hour I have heard the following,

Postponed indefintely.

Postponed until November.

Not postponed but reduced daytime events during the original planned week.

Meanwhile I've secured 200 litres of fuel in spare tanks. It won't get me to Cancun in an emergency, but to Viñales and back with some left over, yes.

Well, that’s an entirely inevitable yet still rather sad development. Along with the news of rollers sitting around with nothing to do, it makes me wonder whether my Apple stock or my Habanos collection will be worth more money soon.

My gut says they will delay it. The charity event etc. is a major source of funds for the island. They will find a way but this does show how dire things are.
