I am reasonably sure of the vintage here. No bands, no size differentiation, but a lot of Viaje that was definitely from this era came with it. Only two of these, so here we are, @Capn_Jackson, smoking ghosts.

Big floral tobacco bang to start. Kicks in amazingly strong, but deep and rich behind the power. Sickeningly strong. Dark toasted pumpernickel w sour zesty marmalade is the only coherent flavor note I get, not much time for transitions here. Ratcheting down in strength as we go, pretty mellow by the time we get to the nub, but I'm exhausted by the power.

I can't imagine how strong this would have been fresh. I really don't like much about this, let's see what Jackson thinks.

Tiny little shotgun shell of a cigar to finish off the afternoon. Very old Viaje, if I’m remembering correctly. The shotgun series. The cold draw has some sweet cream, coffee, and oak smoke. In light-up, I get some huckleberry, raisin, wood, and nuts. More than a little pepper, as well.

The first half has been a power show, more pepper than I’d like, but also some nice richness. Excellent construction, and a razor-sharp burn line.

Second half has more creamy notes, and oddly a little baked potato. Something along the lines of salted, buttered bacon. Getting vibes of, and I’m showing my southern American roots here, Awendaw soufflé. Look it up. Wonderful stuff.

A little more pepper throughout than I would like, but overall this has been a unique change of pace! Gets a 90 from me.

This is the strongest SS I've hard by far and maybe the strongest Viaje old or young. Just off the charts. I'm pretty sure they were around 15 years, I'm quite certain +10 years based on the look alone. These pics aren't doing alot of justice to the texture and delicacy of the wrapper here.

Funny you said that, because I actually took a few photos before I got one of the wrapper that I was happy with. Still didn’t quite capture it...I tried, though, because as you said it was a very nuanced wrapper.

I would say we need to up the photography game, but I know that war from long ago conversations with Charlie & Brooks. We may do other things well but serious photography is beyond our capacity.
