El Presidente Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world. To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well! Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor) 4-6 (Average to good) 7-10 (very good to excellent) Use the Poll. You are more than free to comment away The H. Upmann Magnum 54 has been in my rotation since its release in 2017...and 54 gauge cigars are the absolute limit for me when it comes to finding a space in my regular rotation. I love the flavour profile, I love it's richness and balance. I do come across a few that are underwhelming but 8 out of 10 for me are spot on. Price wise it isn't the worst in this post cigarmageddon world and most of us have to think far more about the cigars that make their way into our rotation. The Magnum 54 is a very good blend in a marque with plenty of good blends. I like how its blend still stands out in such a strong lineup. Have your say! 2
pohlmad Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 These and Punch Short de Punch are the absolute must haves in my rotation. Everything @El Presidente said above rings true. They stand out in a marca that has lots of great blends. I don’t prefer 54 ring gauge but look right past the ring gauge because of how great they are! 3
chasy Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 I love this cigar. Typically lighter colored wrappers with a nice sheen. Feels good in the hand even at 54 gauge. Mild strength with great smoke output. Rarely doesn't burn even and clean. Can smoke it in 60 minutes without feeling rushed. I love to smoke them in the morning or mid day - won't knock you off your feet. Just a great cigar all around. 3
BlueWS Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 My first Mag 54 was 6 months old and I thought it was bland trash. I was instantly turned off. Then I had one a year later and the magic happened. I've had a couple more in the last two years and they've all been hits. I like the ring gauge, because it holds up better for smoking outside and it's always windy where I live. I wish I bought a 25 cab, because they're my favorite out of everything I've tried. I wish I could exchange all the other overpriced average cigars I have for more Mag 54s. 3
loose_axle Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 It's delicious and my favourite when I don't want a Double Corona or large size cigar but still heft and good taste. I personally think it's closer to the Mag 50 than the No 2 with a bit of its own thing in there. 3
dicko Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 One of my "go to" cigars. I was introduced at one of the Havanathons - literal platters of them stacked up in triangles - amazing! Loved ever since. They are very dependable. For me medium bodied sometimes medium plus and sort of generic (and I don't mean that in a bad way at all) Cuban flavours woody, bit of cream, bit of mild spice, cedar etc. I like the comparison above to Punch Short de Punch although I think the 54 has a touch more class. One minor complaint would be Ive never had an EPIC one but they always deliver a 91-93 type experience and sometimes that's all you want or need. Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk 3

Agreed - I don't think the Mag 54 has that Epic upside potential. But it's so consistent so I has a home in my humidor. As much as I like an epic cigar, often times chasing that stick isn't worth it. If you told me 1 out of 10 CoRos is epic, and an average stick is $70, I'm spending $700 and 10+ hours for one magical cigar. 4
cnov Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 I had a three pack that were all wind tunnels, after reading the reviews here I might have to dip the toe again sometime. 2
Gubbins Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Only had a couple, both were alright cigars but was slightly underwhelmed. A little too light, expected more cream, and quite loosely rolled. Although I am guessing that I just got a couple of lacklustre examples. Personally prefer the strength, flavour, body and vitola of the Mag46. I think I will also need to revisit these. 2
Lucas Buck Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Big fan of the Magnum line but short and fat just doesn’t interest me so I haven’t bought any of these. If I’m going to smoke a 52+ parejo it’s gonna be at least 5" dammit.
