Cestis4 Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Hello all, Did HdM update their DC band in 2025 or are these fugazi? Take note of the sides of the band: They now say Habana and Cuba. Thanks 1
Popular Post JohnS Posted October 25 Popular Post Posted October 25 To me, it seems that the Band A (which has been used on larger ring gauge cigars for a long time, even pre-Revolution in 1959) has been updated to reflect the change of the more popular Band E, which removed the reference to Jose Gener on the sides in 2003. 5
Cestis4 Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 Hi John. Always grateful for your input. Are you aware of a band change? 1
JohnS Posted October 25 Posted October 25 No, I'm not aware of a specific band change for the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona. If I recall correctly, it's the only vitola in the Hoyo de Monterrey range that utilises Band A. In my mind, the bands on those cigars look legitimate, especially due to their embossing. I'm confident it's something that @ATGroom will research and confirm/disconfirm in time. In the meantime, rest assured that different bands on this cigar has come up on our forum before. 2
Popular Post ATGroom Posted October 25 Popular Post Posted October 25 It's the revised Hoyo A band which was used on the Grand Reserva DCs and the Destinos. Same design basically but printed in Holland so higher quality all around, shinier foil, slightly revised lettering on the front and as you point out, Jose Gener is replaced with Habana Cuba. I've seen them on regular DCs before. Not totally clear yet if they are using that band for all of them now or if it's just a couple of batches to use up the bands leftover from the Destinos. Anyway, no cause for concern unless you have other reasons to be concerned.😜 3 2
