Daniel Marshall has released two new eye-catching cigar sets, one inspired by the U.S. government, the other by sci-fi cinema. What do they have in common? Actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger at their genesis.

Following up the HMS Resolute Desk and White House humidors, Marshall and Schwarzenegger have teamed up for a new historic humidor resembling the U.S. Capitol building, one of which recently went up for auction. Additionally, Marshall released a limited-edition cigar jar inspired by Schwarzenegger’s most iconic role, the T-800 killing machine from the Terminator franchise. Both are now available.

Made in California at the Daniel Marshall workshop, the U.S. Capitol Humidor is based on original drawings of the iconic building. Schwarzenegger’s vision was for Marshall to create a series of historic humidors that have international significance. Measuring 29 1/4 inches tall and 18 inches wide, it consists of 200 individually micro-carved pieces and each of its windows was painted by Columbian artist Juan Rosillo with shading to resemble glass. A master jeweler was commissioned to reproduce the “Statue of Freedom” that tops the real Capitol Building’s dome in miniature out of solid bronze.

On the inner lid are two plaques: one telling the story of the Capitol building and the other featuring reproductions of the signatures of six presidents whose portraits adorn the cigar bands (Washington, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Kennedy, Reagan and George H.W. Bush). According to Marshall, each humidor takes one year to complete.

Inside are 400 cigars made by Arturo Fuente, which are wrapped in aged cover leaf from Chateau de la Fuente, the farm where Fuente grows wrapper leaf for its venerable Fuente Fuente OpusX brand. The blend is available in two sizes: Churchill, measuring 7 inches by 48 ring gauge; and Robusto, 5 1/4 by 50. Inside the main portion of the humidor are 360 Presidential cigars with another 40 inside the Capitol dome.

Also included is a copy of the coffee table book, The United States Capitol (a $100 value); and a Daniel Marshall Golden Cigar Cutter (a $75 value).

Of the 10 individually numbered humidors produced, the first was auctioned in Brentwood, California, on October 11 for $150,000 to benefit the After School All Stars Foundation. Another will be auctioned at a later date; one will be kept by Marshall; and the remainder will be made available for purchase to collectors and lounges. The suggested retail price is $150,000.

Not quite as presidential, the Daniel Marshall Terminator Endoskeleton Skull Cigar Jar is a fired ceramic replica of a T-800 Terminator skull seen in the Terminator films. It’s made in Italy on the Amalfi Coast, measures 9 1/2 inches high with a 5 1/2-inch diameter and comes with 30 Churchills. The 7-by-48 cigars contained are the Daniel Marshall XXXV Churchill, which were made in Nicaragua by the Plasencias in 2018 to celebrate Daniel Marshall’s 35th company anniversary. According to Marshall, the Nicaraguan leaves used for the blend were aged five years before rolling. One cigar of every set is covered in 24kt gold leaf applied by Marshall himself (a $500 value). It has a suggested retail price of $2,500.

A hardbound coffee table book, “40 Years” (signed by Marshall) is included with the jar (a $50 value). Production is limited to just 100 jar sets.
