This stick has a great cocoa and barnyard aroma on the body and foot, although cold draw gives me an entirely different vanilla and maple syrup vibe. Light-up is very nice, rich with a nutty, sweet character. No pepper. Going on, the first half has some comino spice (cumin to my fellow US pals), as well as some buttered almond. There’s a mineral quality, perhaps joining with the comino, and almost a sweet biscuit with touches of sea salt on top. Caramel on that biscuit, more than cocoa. Loads of citrus, but more peel than fruit, and some funky amaretto in the mix. Digging this. Medium to medium-full strength, and very savory.

There isn’t a lot of change as I go past the midpoint, and on to the second half. A little more heavy, a little more rich, with an oily texture. Burn and construction are spot-on. Some cranberry and waffle on the finish, out of nowhere, disappears as quickly as it came. As I get past the first band, with “Corojo” written on it, the comino spice gets heavier. Almost too thick. But going on, there is a delicious smoky cocoa, and I don’t think I’ve ever put those two words together, but in the words of Ian Malcolm, “Well, there it is.”

Near the end, cumin spice becomes so prevalent  and intense that I can now actually taste the meat. Definite umami going on, like a big goat leg being spit-roasted for birria tacos. All we need here is some salsa de aguacate. Caramel and vanilla start to pop their heads up. A little distracting from my dream of tacos on the beach under palm trees. Going toward the nub, I’m left with a very heavy savory and sweet mix, a really interesting smoke. It’s probably too young, although so enjoyable, and I’m going to wager it has legs for nearly a decade. I’ll enjoy seeing where these are at in another year.

@Çnote, our brains both went to Latin cuisine with this one! Interesting…

There's alot of similarity here...barnyard on the wrapper, huge intensity in middle, meat & unami. Definitely same cigar...a decade is probably about right.
