Air China flight to Cuba materializes first cargo transport

Havana, June 26 (Latin Press) Air China has completed its first cargo transport as part of its regular flight to Havana, a new opportunity to transform trade and strengthen bilateral ties, Transportation Minister Eduardo Rodriguez said today.

 

In his account on the social network Facebook, Rodriguez commented that commercial aviation between China and Cuba took a historic jump on the previous day by materializing this transport on a flight that connects Havana with Beijing twice a week since May 17, 2024.

Rodríguez added that at the welcoming ceremony, China’s ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, thanked the collaboration of the involved business organizations from both countries and wished great success to this new alternative for trade. For Cuba, he said, in addition to being a direct and more efficient route for exports to that market, it represents a first step in the strategic aspiration of turning the island into a point of regional logistic exchange of cargo, a projection in which Air China would be welcome.

With this initiative, he said, Air China demonstrates its confidence in the Cuban market, while Cuba gains a key tool to boost its economy at a time of commercial transformations and many needs.

I saw this plane last month and it looks like its close to 40 years old from the design. It makes a stop in Madrid, the passengers were from China, Spain and Cubans returning home. John
