puromaniac Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Many early summer steelhead on Vancouver Island are called "half-pounders" because they are small, even though most are in the 3-pound range. Still, they are nice fish, eager to smash skated dry flies. This is my go to dry--an orange hackle Buck Bug. Originally an Atlantic salmon fly, now popular and effective on West Coast rivers. And yes, for luck, I had just sparked this San Cristobal RE gifted by a friend. Correlation or causation? Obviously need a much larger sample size. But someone has to do it. Two great Father's Day gifts. 1
