ha_banos Posted May 23 Posted May 23 15 of the new Saint Luis Rey Adamastor, Portugal Edicion Regional have been listed on BR to date. And mostly sold way way above retail. I noticed this from the emails of new listings. This cigar released at the beginning of the month. So just over 20 days ago. Tell me Habanos aren't going to pump some more. Perhaps Regionals more. 1
Fugu Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Yeah, it surely is debatable whether the policy change of BR towards allowing sales of new product is a good thing. Happy flipping, I say! 1 1

Happy flipping, I say! Definitely not a good thing IMO. There were like 8 boxes listed by the same guy. These retail at $250-$300 and he has them listed starting at $600. 2
chasy Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I have no issue with BR allowing new releases. A marketplace serves to help buys and sellers transact. Part of that is finding the “market clearing price.” Sucks that someone is gobbling up new releases, doubling asking price and flipping them - but not BR’s fault.
Hammer Smokin' Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Meh, just one of the many things wrong (in my opinion) with Cuban cigars today. Whatever. I'm not their market. 1 1
chasy Posted May 23 Posted May 23 You see it with tons of stuff. People wait in line for new sneaker releases, buy them, list them on eBay of Stockxx for a huge premium to the retail price. It's not unique to Cuban cigars. I would say the retailer should be more discerning on who they sell to and limit how many boxes. In the world of fancy watches, if your dealer catches you flipping hard to find watches, it can get you on the do not sell list. 1

But in the current CC world, it gets you on the outstanding customer/retailer's best friend list. 2
Popular Post ha_banos Posted May 23 Author Popular Post Posted May 23 Yeah let's see if anyone here can buy any in store. Oh wait. No one from Portugal? We've heard the tales from across Europe. No one seems to be able to buy boxes or even singles without buying NC or super premium as well. Probably the shops selling via their mates or indirectly. Ho hum. Like I said. These sorts of RE are very reasonably priced. Watch them soon not be. I did manage to get a few of these thanks to a mate! At the right price too 👍🏼 10

Happy flipping, I say! I'm not a fan - I'd be ok with dropping the age requirement to two years or 18 months even. I've actually unsubscribed from the email list as a result since now it's a lot of flipping. Seen this in the GPU market and it sucks fun out of the hobby for enthusiasts (and there wasn't a lot left in CC to begin with post-Cigarmageddon) Sad but I suppose it was inevitable. I've lost interest in CC beyond smoking them, sealing my collection, and talking shop here! 2
Hookmaker Posted May 25 Posted May 25 CC’s used to be a good investment. Buy a few boxes keep for 5 years, smoke a box or two and pop the rest on auction when long time sold out but still coveted. You paid retail plus the aging time. Fun and fair. I believe BR understood this, hence the old rules. Since BR opened up for auctioning anything including newest releases the market has been more or less destroyed. Lots and even Non CC smokers go straight in to the BMs, buy what they can and go straight to BR. Crazy. Shop owners all over also know this, so in many places you won’t see anything on shelves, they hide in the back and even in countries (like Italy and Spain) where it’s strictly illegal (and will result in immediate shut down if authorities find out), the shop owners sell the behind-the-counter stuff at inflated prices 50-100% above retail - and why wouldn’t they? - they know the stuff has a BR market value way beyond retail. For CC smokers that enjoy their cigars lit, the market has been destroyed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4 2
