Hello Everyone,

I’ll be moving to another state soon and traveling with around 200 cigars. For those of you who’ve flown with your collection before—what’s the best way to transport them? What kind of humidor or container do you recommend? Carry-on or checked bag? And once I arrive, how long should I let them rest before lighting one up?

You don’t need a humidor. Just be sure and protect them very well from being crushed. Would definitely carry them on. Never been a victim myself but heard too many horror stories of checked cigars. I have flown with as many as 50 or so, never with 200, that will be more of a challenge in carry on but doable I think. As far as resting, no need. Smoke as soon as you like. I’ve been traveling with cigars for more than 20 years and never had a problem. They smoke just fine right away.
Best of luck on your move!

I have a travel humidor designed for 10 cigars.  It's something like this and usually travels in my carry on.

But for 200? I'd pack them up in a heavy duty zip lock bag, toss in a boveda and just mail them to my destination.

I’d ship them using UPS or USPS. I haven’t had a problem with either. Don’t declare that you’re shipping cigars though. I did that with USPS once, since it isn’t a violation of their rules depending on quantity, the postal worker didn’t care. She just told me I couldn’t ship cigars. I went to the PO in the next town and told them I was shipping a gift to my nephew. Done.

Any type of airtight container that will fit in a backpack with a boveda pack would be the safest way to protect them. You could also just use a few 1gl or 2gl ziplock bags with boveda packs and pack them in a USPS Priority shipping box (free at USPS) just use a few of whatever will fit in your back pack! Then just carry all your other stuff in the checked bag!

As far as time I have traveled and lit up the same day no worries!

Plastic ziplock and boveda. Roll it up, to take air out and put in carry on. Been through countless TsA checkpoints and no one has ever pulled them out for inspection.

Obviously jet lighter is a no no.

No way I’d ship these USPS or UPS. 200 cigars could be anywhere from $4k up North of $10k. I would be packing into a Tupperware container that fits within a carry-on sized luggage.

With some countries...you have to have cojones

100 cigars where you have the most beautiful cigar customed aluminium cigar pelican case ($400) in check in luggage...good luck explaining to the border patrol official you had no idea.

CIgars in ziplocks or Ken's plastic bag, you can pass yourself off as an ignorant idiot and argue mental deficiency. It occasionally works.;)
