JohnS Posted March 2 Posted March 2 James Bond actor Roger Moore's cigar box to fetch £8k at auction Sir Roger Moore (Image: PA Wire) By Timothy Edgley - Audience and Content Editor A cigar box belonging to James Bond actor Roger Moore is expected to fetch up to £8,000 when it goes under the hammer. The personal cigar humidor was kept by the 007 star at his office at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, and he would often pop over to pick up a fresh cigar from his dressing room whilst filming. When the English actor, who died aged 89 in 2017, appeared on television talk shows, the first thing he would do was to light up his trademark cigar. The box comes with a document that was signed by Sir Roger's personal assistant in 2017, which states: "This is to confirm that this cigar box belonged to Sir Roger Moore, back in the days when he smoked!" It also comes with three Havana cigars and is expected to fetch £5,000 to £8,000 when it goes under the hammer. A limited edition 'Corgi 269 & Mettoy' toy car, that was inspired by the 1997 film The Spy Who Loved Me, will be also going to auction. The 6 x 5 inches big car is presented in a gold-coloured box and is expected to fetch £6,000 to £8,000. Andrew Ewbank, from Ewbank's Auctions, said: "This is yet another extraordinary and unique set of 007 memorabilia presented to eager fans for the first time. "We have been waiting years now to hear who will fill Daniel Craig’s shoes in one of the most popular and iconic roles in cinema history, and it’s clear that the appetite for everything 007 has not diminished at all." A series of photo contact sheets and negatives from 007 publicity sessions, that feature Moore just before he took on the role of James Bond in 1973, will also go under the hammer. Other photographs included relate to Sir Roger’s work, in later life, as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF between 1991 and 2017 are expected to fetch £2,500 to £5,000 at auction. A boxed action figure of Sean Connery as 007 will also go to auction and comes with a complete gun case accessory with cap-firing gun and concealed knife in the right shoe.
