Por Larranaga Montecarlos LGR AGO 19 (FSRFEB25)

Every time I pick one of these from the box I yell at myself for not buying 20 boxes back when they could be had for a whopping $90. Then again I guess we are all doing that with every box of Cubans. While these were a cheap cigar nothing about these sticks is cheap. An elegant shape that screams finesse and class. 

These cigars scream spring for me. They generally smoke on the lighter side for me and have delicate flavors that demand attention to get the full experience. Coming from a winter of no smoking lets me get on these with a fresh palate. 

This example is tight but smokable. Starts with a charred oak note along with sweet grass/barnyard. a pleasure to retrohale. Smooth creamy smoke.

Cigar chugs along despite the tighter roll. A touch of salinity adds to the profile. We are at a gentle medium body right now. Very nice.

The cigar builds a bit of maple, caramel flavor that blends with the wood notes beautifully. These really are a treat.

I have great memories of Por Larranaga Montecarlos that 'punched above their weight' from this era. Great review as always. I can ensure you that a number of us are currently "yelling at ourselves for not buying 20 boxes back when they could be had for a whopping $US90!"

Perhaps in a few years we’ll say can you believe you used to be able to get a box of Montecarlos for $250?
