Festival del Habano XXV Humidor Auction Winners Will Get Custom-Banded Cigars & More

Each year, at the conclusion of the Festival del Habano—the annual Cuban cigar festival—Habanos S.A. auctions roughly a half-dozen humidors to raise money for the Cuban health system. Typically, these humidors contain 300-500 cigars, a mixture of mostly regular production and limited items, though there are sometimes cigars that are not available for sale included in a humidor.

For 2025, winners of the humidors will get some added special perks.

Habanos S.A. has announced that winners of the humidor actions will be entered into the Habanos S.A. Private Selection, a new program that offers some unique perks:

1. Priority access to “prestigious vitolas in the Habanos portfolio.” A press release mentions all “all Cohiba lines, the most iconic vitolas from Trinidad, and all references from Montecristo 1935, Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro and Partagás Línea Maestra, in addition to some Specialities, exclusive and limited.”
2. The option for custom-banded cigars.
3. The option to personalize a custom humidor that can hold up to 300 cigars.

Many of the details about this program are unclear, such as whether past winners will be included or only future winners. In addition, it’s unclear how much the custom banding and personalized humidors will cost.

A press release indicated that winners of humidor auctions at the Habanos World Days will also be eligible. That’s important to note because it seemingly confirms that there will be another Habanos World Days. Last year, the first Habanos World Days took place from June 20-22 in London. It was a multi-day event that focused on the Trinidad brand.

Access to the program will not be cheap. At last year’s Festival del Habano XIV, seven lots sold for more than $19 million, an average price of €2.25 million ($2.4 million) per humidor, up from €1.87 million in 2022.

The Festival del Habano XXV takes place Feb. 24-28 in Havana.
