Popular Post ayedfy Posted December 1, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2024 Padron 3000 Maduro. Nicaraguan, vitola size 5.5x52, purchased as a single mid-2022. Opening third: chocolate-coated coffee beans. Good balance between sweet and earthy bitterness. Draw is on the looser side, some uneven burn initially but nothing too concerning. Medium-bodied. Gradually opens up some nice complexity with vanilla sugar, and a herbal note along the lines of oregano. Middle third: body lifts to medium-full and the flavour turns towards a sour citrus note, specifically grapefruit. Chocolate seems to have disappeared, coffee lifts off but lingers. Burn has evened out at this point. FInal third: body now drops below medium towards something light and gentle. The citric acidity falls away, which I’m grateful for as I wasn’t loving it. There’s a subtle creaminess now, like a cottage cheese or non-sour plain yoghurt. Hint of rye bread, some surprising echoes of dark chocolate from the opening, and finishing with dry worn leather. A perfectly fine smoke - interesting enough and went down easy, though I can’t say it wowed me at any point. I’m told these age quite well, but I’m not sure I loved this enough to buy more and sit on them to find out for myself. 80/100 (Enjoyed this one by the barbie on the first day of summer) 8
