I get it that Havana is a different world from the rest of the country. It and the main tourist resorts. I have read there are hotels been going up/renovated in Havana in recent years. I only hope they contribute, somehow, to a positive change in the future.

"Most Cubans make only $20 a month, and less than 5 percent even have internet access, but somehow, they remain happy and hopeful for the future. There is a new movement happening in Havana, filled with talented creatives and entrepreneurs bringing art, hotels, and music with plans to restore the area to its former glory." This is a woke propaganda article. 1

The food is crap, the power grid is shot, and there is no such thing as "cheap cigars" there. Give me a reason to go. 😬 1

Until I see my local Walmart parking lot and then it all makes sense. 🤣 Only way I would be going there at this point is on a humanitarian mission. Definitely not to sunbathe and have those poor people wait on me. 1

Personally it wouldn’t be me, but I’m in no position to just either.
JohnnyO Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 There are quite a few Russians and the like sitting their time out during their war. They are considered "tourists". Was there this weekend and a lot of tree branches and garbage all over the place. You could stir the stench with a fork. Power was out another 3 days for some areas (Lisa) for hurricane Rafael and as much a s 9 days in Playa. All of the restaurants had to throw out their food, and you guessed it they dump it in the streets. Scheduled power outs were daily where I stayed in Playa. Also, a lot of stores were out of any kind of meats due to the losses or fear that they would lose it again. Would like to clarify something from the article. Some hotels state they have power plants/generators. That may be true but is only to supply minimal electronics, not AC. John 3 1 2
