Pianist and composer Elio Villafranca grew up in San Luis, a small town in Western Cuba. 

He remembers the smells of the tobacco plants in the rain, on their way to be made into those famous Cuban cigars, and the melodic sounds of Congolese drumming and local folk traditions wafted through the air.
