Popular Post JoeyBones777 Posted September 25, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 25, 2024 This is a 5x48, so, Hermosa no.4. First light, blast of pepper on the palate and retrohale along with some earth and underlying sweetness. First third is medium body with flavors of earth, pepper and a slight berry sweetness on the retrohale along with some light pepper. Second third is more of the same though the pepper has died done a bit. I did have relight it once because it hit a rough spot where it just went out. Final third is medium.bodied with flavors earth, light pepper, light coffee and light brown sugar with coffee and light berry sweetness on the retrohale. Another relight was needed. My final score is a 54, single worthy. I've smoked 2 others of these that were better with less pepper and earth and more berry sweetness throughout. There is some hype around these from those whom shop Warped's drop website but I don't quite see it. I still have 2 more from the 5 pack I bought that will sit for a bit before I smoke them. The Isla Del Cocodrilo cg is Warped's best blend to me and the Cloud Hopper is a great budget blend by Warped. I don't see myself buying more of these. 9
Lamboinee Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 I haven't smoked the 5 x 48 yet, but I can certainly see how the pepper could tend to spoil the party on that blend in that vitola. The petit corona is solid, but the lancero is excellent and might be worth a try for you...the pepper is toned down. I find some similarities with the nudie lanceros actually. I was also fascinated to learn that bits of Havana is an actual Cuban cigar from days of 'yore. I haven't tried the isla de croc yet...colmena has always been my favorite from warped and I think the recent colmena "8" hong Kong release is aromatic and absolutely delicious if you are looking for other warped recommendations. Good review. Is 54 points, is that on a 100 point scale? 2

Take 50 as the average premium cigar with quality tobacco, decent construction, safe blend and sort of "meh"...not good but not bad. 50-59: single worthy 60-69: 5 pack worthy 70-79: box/bundle worthy 80-89: humidor mainstay 90-100: unicorn, take all my money 2 1

The La Colmena is decent but the cedar note in it is a bit to sharp for my palate. It comes off a bit bitter and dry and takes away from the rest of the profile. For the price it just isn't worth it for me. It has been quite awhile since I had one, I may need to pick one up again soon. 2
