Heard about this. He was selling a lot of the Costco Kirkland brand stuff. It was very popular. Don't know what he was thinking trying to pull that off. Now he's in the gulag. 

Not surprised about the Chinese market. I'm sure the government gets you in, promises you one thing and then pulls the rug out from under you hoping you'll take it and pay up. 

I'm not sure why everyone keeps thinking profit can be made in Cuba. The Chinese are going to be in for a rude awakening.

Profit is exploitation. The government is the entity that provides for the people. How dare one man usurp the government's role and profit from people's hunger? 

The party comes first. The people's welfare flows from that. There is no "everyone" separate and apart from the party/revolution. If the party is healthy the general welfare will be healthy. Foreign capital to private businesses is a recipe for Batista-era abuses so will never be allowed. 

I'm just continually shocked people think they can do business there. More dollars than sense. The Chinese will soon find out the hard way. They must be spoiled working with the west for 30 years. Ask the Soviets how lucrative getting involved in Cuba was.

The whole thing is preposterous. Batista -era abuses ? He was a boy scout compared to this regime.
