My recent Deep Dive conversation with El Pres inspired this topic. During our chat, the topic of Limited and Regional Editions came up. I admit that the question 'threw' me; it was only upon reflection later that the reason why was because of my personal evolution within this hobby (i.e. as I became settled in my humidor acquisitions over time, the development of my regular production stock became more valued to me) and the change in the Limited Edition program, especially after the release of the 2017 Cohiba Talisman. Once the Cohiba Talisman was released in great quantities and again in 2019, my attention to the program was never the same. (I still remember clearly @NSXCIGAR citing this release on our forum as the first 'Unlimited' Edition - very funny!)

In any case, have you had a chance to smoke any of the post-2020 Limited Editions? If so, which one and how did it fare? If you've smoked multiple, which is your favourite? Please feel free to do the poll attached to this topic. These releases are listed below:

Please note, at the time of posting this topic, the 2024 H. Upmann Magnum Finite and Ramón Allones Absolutos are not yet listed as available on Cuban Cigar Website.

If you haven't had a chance to smoke any of these releases, please feel free to respond within this thread and share how your smoking of Limited Editions has changed over time.

I've tried the Legados and 55th and both are very good. The Legados are similar to the Seleccion Privada 14 and the 55th I'd say are at least as good as the Talisman, maybe a bit better.

The Monterreyes No.4 is like that one friend who crashes a Brunello wine tasting with a six-pack of IPA - charmingly out of sync and refreshingly audacious. I was expecting the creamy, smooth, and cocoa-like experience typical of a Hoyo. Instead, a curveball. This cigar started off with an unexpected sweetness and morphed into a tangy, med/full-bodied profile that seems to laugh in the face of Hoyo’s usual sophistication. It’s as if the Monterreyes No.4 decided to toss out the rulebook and stage its own flavor rebellion. El Pres often talks about how a particular vitola has the 'DNA' of their parent brand. For me, this does not have the familiar Hoyo DNA, but that’s exactly what made it so intriguing.  And I agree with JohnS about the LE line; once they became 'sort of limited', interest waned. Many other reg production/enjoyable ones to try. Fav limited to date is the Cohiba 1966 (2011), though a nod to the more recent Quai d'Orsay Senadores (2019) which seem better now than ever.

Couldn’t agree more, the Senadores are smoking wonderfully!
