Well done Patrick

Cigars have long been described as an affordable luxury, and for the most part, they have been just that. Yet over the past few years, the industry has seen a growing number of cigars released with price tags that woudl suggest anything but affordable. Habanos S.A., the Cuban cigar conglomerate, made headlines in 2022 when it announced its new global pricing standard, which not only sought to standardize prices from country to country, but would base them on the price of cigars in Hong Kong, one of the priciest markets for Cuban cigars in the world.

But non-Cuban companies have also come to see that there is a market for cigars with price tags that would put them in ultra-premium territory, which has come to mean an MSRP of $100 or more, before taking taxes into account. Davidoff has been in this space for a while, but more companies have dipped their toe in the water, including Plasencia with its $100 Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada, Altadis U.S.A. with its $150 Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Doble Diamante, and Rocky Patel Premium Cigars with its $100 cigar, Conviction.

Rocky Patel, the company’s founder, described Conviction as a pet project that he had wanted to work on for decades, creating a small batch, limited edition cigar that was truly special.

Points lost for construction.

As I've said many times while NC construction on the whole is better than CCs it's not leaps and bounds better. Which I think is a testament to CCs that have no resources going into them as opposed to NCs that have all the resources available.

Encouraging to see the flavors would have ranked it as a top cigar of the year. Obviously disappointing about the construction, especially if it knocks it completely out of contention.

Like we said on the Deep Dive, NC construction used to be so perfect that I wouldn't have even given it a second thought.

The name's appropriate. At that price, any review under 90 pts is sufficient evidence to warrant conviction.
