Hitchcock's films tended to have a simple premise - 'Let's put an ordinary person into an extraordinary circumstance and see what happens!' So simple, but a lot of his films continue to have a strong legacy because of this.

not a bad list. north by northwest is my favourite. should be higher. some of those lower ones could go up a bit. topaz. saboteur. 39 steps and lady vanishes definitely higher. and Dial M for Murder. frenzy does not make the list? nor torn curtain? go back and do it again.
