Back when we used to sow our own plant beds, it was amazing to see how many plants came out of that packet of itty bitty seeds. They were so tiny, they were mixed with a bucket of ashes out of the woodstove and broadcast over the plant beds.

Yes it's amazing how small they are, I've planted some in my backyard a few years ago and I have a hard time imagining smaller seeds.

Smallest seed? Nope. That record goes to the orchid seeds, with some species having seeds less than 0.2mm in length. By comparison, tobacco seeds are on average 0.75mm in length.

What a pain it must be to grow those from such small seeds...I'm not surprised, orchids are my nemesis, never been able to make one survive more than a couple years.
