El Presidente Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I post this up only because it was a point of discussion on Sunday/Monday between George/John and myself. JUNE 6, 2024 PATRICK LAGREID CIGARS, DAVIDOFF, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, REVIEWS HW In April 2024, Davidoff brought back its Davidoff Maduro line, which had previously been off the market for just about eight years. Davidoff first introduced the Maduro in 2008, though it was discontinued in 2016 as part of a portfolio trimming that included parts of its Puro d’Oro and Aniversarion lines, as well as the Davidoff Classic No. 1 and No. 3; Grand Cru No. 1 and No. 4; and the Millennium Blend Lancero and Lonsdale. CONTINUED Davidoff Maduro 2024 Short Corona (4 x 43) — $43 (Box of 20, $860) Davidoff Maduro 2024 Robusto (5 x 50) — $50 (Box of 20, $1,000) Davidoff Maduro 2024 Toro (6 x 54) — $54 (Box of 20, $1,080) 3
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 6, 2024 Quote As mentioned, one cigar needed a handful of relights in its second half to stay burning, a problem that I am finding in an increasing number of cigars from all sorts of manufacturers. Given that none of the cigars had apparent construction issues, such as a plugged or overly loose draw, it leads me to wonder about the tobacco inside. Our Developing Palates Davidoff review is scheduled for June 10th, but here's a quick preview of my notes from the summary: Quote The draw was slightly into the resistant spectrum, while the burn performance was the lowest score possible with seven re-lights required through the review experience. Whenever I encounter poor burn performance, I make sure to look at myself before holding a cigar accountable. In this case, the cut was a v-cut which is what I've been using for many years. The humidity measured 62.6% which shouldn't have resulted in a poor burn. Although my overall smoking time was longer than usual, roughly 20 minutes of this is accounted for by the process of having to stop, purge, re-light and capture the details. I would find that many re-lights unacceptable on an average priced cigar, but in the super premium category I think it's completely unacceptable. While cigars are a handmade product and errors will occur, I don't think it's unreasonable to hold an expensive cigar to a higher level of accountability. 5 2
JoeyBones777 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I'm at a point where I won't spend more than $15 or so to try something new unless it has multiple reviews on it to ensure numerous individuals found it of good quality. There seems to be a lot of very expensive cigars coming out by big name premium brands that seem like straight up money grabs. Like all the zodiac stuff, this maduro release, the tag team cigars, etc... It's pretty annoying. 3
Popular Post Ck293 Posted June 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 6, 2024 I had the robusto recently and it was good but not 58 dollars good. I can't believe they are charging this much.I think I will no longer buy too many of their limited runs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6
VeguerosMAN Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I almost pulled the trigger at the lounge today when I saw these but decided to go with Don Pepin Garcia TAA robusto, Aganorsa Leaf Supreme leaves petite robusto, and Opus X super belicoso ( priced at $22) for the price of one Davidoff Maduro. 2
LizardGizmo Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 We are recording our review for the robusto this week and it’ll be out on 6/25. I’m very curious how it’s going to perform. The price point is very concerning - one of the guys paid $68 for it at a lounge in New York a few weeks ago when he was on holiday. 1

Glass Half Full Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I had the short corona this past Tuesday. Fortunately I did not experience the construction issues John mentioned. Mine was good (even very good at times) but not great. There was some pleasant complexity, enjoyable cedar and chocolate nib flavors, just not "wow." For the price, it was a let down. 1
