Popular Post david9985
I chose this because I haven't had one for around a year or so and it was the first stick that came to mind when "ash review" was mentioned. The construction on these is always flawless and the ash rock solid to the point where I usually break it off rather than nudge it. I paired it with Guinness and as before wrapper, construction, draw and burn were all immaculate. Opening notes were of wood, leather, marzipan and cherry. All quite 'dark' representations of those flavours, no real sweetness to any of them. Smoke output was high and there was no harshness. It paired well with the Guinness. I chose this fully expecting the ash to last for at least half the smoke before dropping. And hoping that I might get all the way to the band (as I have done before). Objective One was achieved but it dropped in my lap at precisely that point. No harm done! As I approached the final third, a touch-up was required and I gave it a thorough purge at this point. Flavours had been fairly consistent throughout the first half but immediately following the purge I had about 5-10mins of sweeter versions of the same tasting notes that hadn't been there previously and were very welcome! Smoke output was still high - and chewy - and these new chewy toffee notes worked very nicely. In summary, a strong stick, with some good flavours and an enjoyable companion. Happy to have smoked it and happy to set it down at the 1h 20min mark. No need to nub. Satisfying!
