Popular Post CaptainQuintero
I was going to dip out on the competition this week; the weather's turned back wintery here but this morning a break in the clouds appeared, the sun broke through and Cat Stevens started playing on the radio. You've got to take the signs when they appear in life! I picked these up a long time ago, more out of curiosity than anything else. I'd not been bowled over by other marca's entreactos but the idea of a fierce Bolivar punch appealed to me. At 30x100 they need to hit you in the face straight off and set off running before you can get back to your feet Perfect draw, spicy dark chocolate at cold Right on lighting these clearly got the memo; a massive hit of the most pungent and perfumed malted bran you could imagine. None of the chocolate from the cold draw, no spice to speak of whatsoever either. It's simply a straight jab of pure dark grain biscuit/cookie Light in strength, albeit they are over 20 years old now, but the body is a solid medium. The lineage between this and the much missed Corona Extra is pretty offensively direct That perfume note is interesting, it's a dank and heavy perfume, not overpowering at all, but it plays in and out at the edges, it coats the smoke. Retrohale let's it satisfyingly linger. Balance There's not a huge amount of evolution here, and I don't think they were ever designed to. They were supposed to be Bolivar distilled into a 20 minute smoke; delicate on the lips but explosive in the mouth. Possibly the bran fades towards the end and that familiar dark ruminating leather and espresso begins to build just before the dark clouds begin to approach again and I'm concerned at the slow patter of rain drops. A perfect experience, a tasting menu. I managed to drag it out to half an hour, and one that leaves you wanting more not exhausted from a 90min assault 8/10
