All these car companies recognize that EVs are the future, so Ford at least is ok losing money in the short term to develop their tech. Lucid is screwed most likely.

What often gets overlooked is that Tesla’s best selling point isn’t the cars - it’s the charging network. The non-Tesla network hasn’t developed as well as hoped, and isn’t as reliable. So it does seem they’ve won there, since major manufacturers like Ford say they’re going to transition to the Tesla charging standard in the future. It makes sense for there to be only one, though it’s a shame it will be a proprietary rather than an open platform. We’ll see if that pans out.

Top 10 cars sold in Oz last year.

🛻 Ford Ranger

🛻 Toyota HiLux

🛻 Isuzu D-Max

🚙 MG ZS

🚙 Toyota RAV4

🚙 Tesla Model Y

🚙 Mitsubishi Outlander

🚙 Mazda CX-5

🚙 Hyundai Tucson

🚙 Toyota LandCruiser Prado

Top 3 are 4x4. No 10, 4x4.

Let's not sneeze at Tesla coming in at 6. Great effort.

Until a 4x4 can tow 300 miles on a charge, the top 3 are unlikely to change.

CX-5 is AWD. We went CX-30 because AWD and EV is a non starter due to limited charging options and extra costs associated with breaker panel upgrades and charging station install.

As someone who whips around locally on my bicycle, I'm a touch concerned about electric cars. I use all my senses when on a bicycle, including ears seeing as bikes don't have rear view mirrors. The other day a Tesla flew past me at high speed on a back street and I had no clue it was there. It all felt a bit dangerous because even though I stick to the curb side of the road, there was a lot of parked cars. One of the reasons motorbikes are loud is so people know they are there. Can't believe people that ride bicycles with headphones on either. Can see a lot of accidents coming up, especially with the addition of electric motorcycles - pedestrians too. Anyhoo, unfortunately the horn is Australia is mostly used out of anger instead of a polite nod to let drivers know you are there like in Asia and South America. One toot for "I'm here" two toots for "look out I'm passing" prolonged toooooot for "Sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!zenhousen" Ha ha!

Do you see Hydrogen cars coming up and making the list in the near future?

I remember 10 years ago Whistler, BC had all the big double long city busses carrying us from one end of town to the other in the winter being all Hydrogen.

Seems like a cool concept, cars running on water.

Sounds like Neurolink will help a ton with people that need it that have disabilities, Im personally just not a fan of the everyday Joe getting it. By all means sign up if ya wanna, to each their own, but personally I don't need to see social media through my brain if that's going to be the eventual route or option. Im all for helping people that need it but it just creeps me out thinking of having something like that. Sounds crazy having a computer in your head, especially knowing that it's something that can be hacked.

I don't want to be morphed into another Agent Smith 😁

Total number of hydrogen fuel cell cars sold in Aus last year? 3. Total number of hydrogen refueling spots in Aus? 1

Near future? Not likely, unless the major petrol companies all put a hydrogen fuel pump at every single station they own nationwide. Without major investment in refueling stations, it is a no go.

As i remember hydrogen is highly explosive, i was asking myself what would happen in a serious car accident ? It takes a lot less to ignite hydrogen than it takes to ignite fuel. Is it safer than EV's ?
