Had an old Montecristo no.4 in my humidor, and I thought that it was about time to smoke it.

Not so sure the age of it, do not have the boxcode, but I assume its at least 3 years old.

The smell is typical espresso, and cold draw intensified it even more. was looking forward to start lighting it up!

The draw was pretty tight, had to use the perfect draw tool and although it fixed it a bit, it still was tight!

The taste after lighting it was unfortunately underwhelming, it did not perform well at all. The typical monte taste is there, but weak and not as pleasant as I'm normally used to. More earth than usual.

The weird thing with this one though, was that it started making sizzling sounds. every 4 or 5 puffs you could hear a clear and loud sizzling sound. Sometimes it even sizzled even when I had put it down on the ashtray.

The most shocking thing however, was not only did it make some weird noises, but it also sparkled a couple of times! When I was smoking it, it just started having some small burst of sparks. I began thinking that it may had some tobacco beetles inside, but I'm not sure, maybe a humidity problem (rainy and humid outside).

This was easily one of my worst Montecristo yet unfortunately, and I could not finish it. But the good thing is that I hope it can only get better from here!

I can’t say I’ve ever smoked a cigar that literally sent sparks out. You mean like a 4th of July sparkler?
