Lanceros 2023 (NRWMO)

Ended my birthday weekend with a great lanceros. Been in the humidor 5 weeks now and can see where these will go. I reckon February and they will really kick in beautifully - if they last that long. Ha ha!

Aroma cold is dark chocolate and rich tobacco. Construction seemed good although I thought the draw at cold was a touch tight so I gently massaged for a bit but I needn't have worried because the burn and draw were perfect.

My poor lighting technique led to a little bitterness that subsided after an inch. In back half of the first third the chocolate kicked in - dark and just a hint of cream. I matched it with an iced coffee with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. Was a very good match and complemented the flavour well.

Second third was probably the best, especially with some ash hanging to take any edges off. The creaminess and chocolate came out here and a lot sweeter. Maybe just a touch of baked bread/plain donut.

The first half of the last third got a bit sweeter again with more pronounced chocolate. The last 2 inches was rich tobacco which I can see will be even more pronounced chocolate in time. Best when smoked slowly so it doesn't get too hot. I'm thinking 90 ATM and will go higher I think in 3 months.

Cigar looks great, but I am a more curious about the beverages:

• Is that a root beer float in the first pic? If so, I'm impressed.
• And in the other pic you've got Suntory iced espresso. Are you in Japan or do you specifically import it to your location?

The first drink is a combo iced coffee. I purchased a long macchiato from my coffee shop and then added the Boss canned coffee, ice and a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. I like the creaminess to coat the back of the throat a bit. I also have an iced sparkling water on hand in case it all just gets a little cloying. In Melbourne, Australia we get the Suntory Boss range of canned coffee in supermarkets. They are my go to when I can't be bothered walking 5mins to the coffee shop or making one myself. A quick hit of the straight black 1/2hr before gym also gives you a kick. Cheers.

Great review Bill 

I think the 2023 N1 Lancero is the most elegant of the line to date. I am not sure where they will develop in the next year but I have a guess they will turm from "very good" to "special".
