Looking for something like a BPC or coronas junior but in a robusto or corona gorda format. I've been trying unsuccessfully, forever, to get some royal coronas.

Thinking of maybe expanding my search to increase the chances that I actually end up with cigars.

My pallet gets a lot of earth and leather from the smaller bolivars which hits just right.

Belicosos finos are somewhat on the radar but are pushing a bit on the upper end of sizes I'd ever really have time to sit and enjoy. I've had a few mag 46s which are solid but just don't quite deliver for me the way the bolivars do.

How would something like the Juan Lopez corona gordas compare? Anything else that should be on my radar?

The good news is, I'm a once a week smoker, and smoke 90% petite corona or smaller, so once I do get a box of something it will last a while.

I would wait for the BRCs, it seems like there was a recent stock of them in the European market. To me BBF’s and Libertadors are a different profile than the rest of the current Marca.

Personally I think the JL1’s (Corona Gordas) and JL2’s (Robustos) are amazing smokes but not similar to the BPC’s or BCJ’s. I think they are the boldest cigars in Habanos portfolio so that will be hard to compare to.

I’ve seen a lot more of the BPC, PC and RC in Europe (in UK particularly) over past six months. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them pop up soon wherever you get yours.

The small Bolis are the strongest CCs out there imho.

When RASS are on they come close--somewhat different profile but worth a try--and a robusto size.

You might want to try the RASCCs first to see if you like them--petite coronas--one of my favs.

If you don't mind the 38 ring gauge, the N3 Carlota hit that BPC/mongrel edge for me.

In CC's, Mag 46 is the only one I can think of that pops up.... but they are damn hard to come by.

Regrettably, the cigar you are looking for is long gone: the Boli Coronas Exta (or perhaps the Inmensas, were it not for the long format). I do concur with @NSXCIGAR's suggestion with regard to VR. Just checked in on a current Famosos the other day and it struck me - while different in their flavour profile, and they are very true to the marca right now - this is as close as it gets to Bolívar in terms of their earthiness.
Problem - atm they're as hard or even harder to come by as the BRC. That being said, the Famosos is the better cigar.

(I always get a whiff of anise / sautéed fennel with them. Great now and will sure be splendid further down the road)

I've always felt the Famosos is the closest thing to the old 90s Bolivar profile of earth and dried fruitiness. It to me is more "Bolivar" than any current Bolivar.

In full agreement! (apart from the BCJ perhaps)
