jakebarnes Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Intro: Robusto. Not usually one I grab all that often. Definitely oily. woody and sweet unlit inhale. Beautiful presentation--probably the prettiest of the bunch. 1/3: initial puffs dry. Nuttiness and burnt toast out of the gate. A little sugar on the nose but not showing on the palate. Settled in to a weird existential daze for the night which is accompanied by a soundtrack of dream/shoegaze. Right as I've given up on the idea of the sweetness, a shortbread butteriness shows up as if on cue as Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey" builds in my headphones. Unfortunately, battling this note is a bit of green woodiness which makes me thing this cigar isn't ready for the prime time. But maybe it'll grow into itself. 2/3: Sweetness has taken a backseat but so has the bitter note--developing a bit into a black tea with the toast. This is not really what I was expecting at this point. The tea/toast is joined by a bit of wet hay showing up at the end of this third. Final Third: This one is sort of off the rails. The sweetness is completely replaced by the green woodiness/hay and really isn't going anywhere else. Honestly a bit harsh at this point too. I let it go with about an inch left. A bit disappointing given how well it started. Will have to revisit in a few months. 2
