Popular Post pohlmad Posted June 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 20, 2023 After some golf practice and lunch with friends, I decided to have this Punch 898 on the patio and watch golfers come in on #18! Paired it with Great Lakes Mexican Lagers. I love Punch and love this size so was really excited to smoke this! The first third was wonderful. Great draw, with a mixture of peanuts/almonds, and really smoking well! in the second third this cigar lost the creaminess and flavors. It started to get stronger and almost bitter! I’ve not experienced such a change in cigar before. in the final third, I had the black tar oozing out of my punch cut. After identifying the problem, I straight cut even more and seemed to solve the problem. However, no matter how many Mexican lagers I had, this cigar was not able to be saved. Monday morning quarter backing, I’m guessing I smoked it too fast and maybe the punch cut wasn’t giving a loose enough draw. I will work on adjusting for next time. Unfortunately I would give this (and my performance) a score of 85. I didn’t think was possible starting but there is always next time! Had great weather, drinks and friends so still a great time! 9
cgoodrich Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Too bad it was a “bogie”. I have 2 boxes aging so I hope my experience is better. Just remember, a bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at work! 😉 1
